Social Cats

The typical description of a cat is that he is solitary, aloof creature, steadfastly independent and happiest being alone.  This is very true of the wild or feral cat that will tend to go out hunting alone.  However domestic cats have learnt t be flexible and are much more adaptable to their environments that their wilder cousins.  In fact even feral cats like to feed in larger social groups.

At home with us humans, you may not realize it but your pet cat views you simply as another larger cat!  They accept us s such and are therefore able to adapt and live with us.  This adaptability has proved to be the making of cats.  They can fit in anywhere.

I have seen this with my own cat.  I had a couple of years of upheaval where I move home three times within a short space taking with me my cat Tikka.  Each time he stoically accepted the change and after a short time made our new abode his kingdom.  Her particularly did this when we went to my parents for a while and became a very popular member of the family running rings round everyone!  He has never failed to amaze me.  We have now been settled for two years and currently he is just getting used to my partner moving in.  Again he is adapting quickly and even allows my partner to stroke him on occasions!
