Oscar Fever for Cats!

The closing date for the Feline Oscars is fast approaching so make sure your glamour puss doesn’t miss out!

With under a week to go until the deadline for entries its time to get your entries in to the Purina PetCare sponsored Cats Protection’s Rescue Cat Awards 2008.

The awards celebrate stories of outstanding bravery, survival and sheer unadulterated cat heroism in kitty circles.  This year’s event is dripping with decadence and glamour and will be held at The Pharoahs’ Palace Hospitality Suite at the esteemed Tutankhamun Exhibition in the O2 Arena in London.  A fitting location given that Egypt has an historical love of cats!

Celebs such as Prunella Scales and Brian Blessed will be part of the glitzy line up who will present the well-earned awards to the UK’s most esteemed rescue cats.  You have until 27th May 2008 to enter and there are four possible categories:

Hero Cat – Cats awarded for outstanding acts of bravery
Ultimate Survivor – Cats who spent their nine lives and still lived to tell the tale
Best friends – where a kitty has not only become your best mate but has enhanced the quality of your life
Most Incredible Story – hard to believe, real-life stories

Any living rescue cat either taken in as a stray by its owner or adopted from an animal welfare shelter is eligible.

The Chief Exec of Cats Protection, Peter Hepburn, said:

“There is something very special about each and every rescue cat, and that is something we want to celebrate with the Rescue Cat Awards 2008.  Rescue cats often have amazing tales to tell, from the touching to the truly remarkable and we would love to hear those stories. Not only would we like to give these cats the recognition they deserve, we also want to highlight how rescue cats make wonderful pets.”

Last year’s winner Tee Cee, a cute black-and-white rescue puss who was abandoned as a kitten in a cardboard box, will hand over to the 2008 champion.  Tee Cee mesmerized judges after hearing of his ability to predict and act when his owner was about to have an epileptic fit.
