My Cat Has Gone Missing
Losing a cat is a worrying time but as cats like to wander it can happen from time to time. Most of the time though your cat has merely been exploring and got themselves locked in somewhere.
If your cat doesn’t come back as you would expect then you need to start looking as quickly as you can. Firstly check your own house. Cats love dark, warm hiding places and they may just be curled up asleep. Also think about whether you’ve had any building work done recently. Cats are notorious for getting themselves stuck under floorboards and behind walls when there is some building work going on. Listen out for any strange noises or sounds of distress. If you’ve just moved house then it’s a good idea to go back to the old house as a cat will find the move initially quite stressful and will gravitate back to his old abode if he escapes.
If this is not the case the first port of call is to contact all your neighbours and ask them to check the shed and garage in case the cat has wandered in to keep warm or to explore. Stick up posters with a recent picture and description and your contact details in the local area and contact any local animal shelters. Sometime a well-intentioned passer-by may have picked up your cat and thought it was a stray. By keeping in touch with the animal shelters you can check if any cats fitting your cat’s description have been handed in.
Make sure your cat has a collar with a tag that gives your contact details. That way you should be reunited with your cat quickly.
