Making Your Cat a Garden Hideaway

Cats love hideaways and retreats at home and in the garden.  To make your garden a haven for your cat and to discourage any unwelcome roaming you can create catty resting places so that your cat can get cosy in the garden:

Adapt you compost bin by simply placing a piece of old carpet over the top.  This will have the added benefit of holding in the heat to warm your cat but also will speed up the composting for you.  You’ll find your cat will love to snuggle up there and view his or her kingdom from this lofty post.  You can make makeshift outlook posts around the garden but you may find your cat likes to improvise anyway.  My cat likes to laze on the shed roof where he is safe from my dog and any other irritants!

Another idea is to use chicken wire around the fence.  Not only does this keep your cat in, but it keeps other intruders out.  You can get brackets that will enable you to set the wire at a forty five degree angle.  Cats don’t like mesh and wire so it’ll provide safe boundaries around the garden.

On another note be careful of water butts in the garden.  Make sure they are covered as a cat can easily drown in one of them.
