Getting Old
Old age comes to us all and its no different for your cat. For you this means taking a bit more time to care and look after your old timer and you should expect to have to visit the vet more often to ensure no niggles turn into major issues.
The major difference you’ll notice in your cat is that they are less mobile that they once were. This means they’ll be even bigger comfort seekers than before. They’ll need a cozy, soft area to sleep in away from cold drafts. This will make sure your cat stays healthy as long as possible.
Cats often seek out a favourite haunt to sleep in. As they are very clean and particular creatures you’ll need to keep it cleaned regularly or they are likely to want to sleep elsewhere. There is plenty of choice for cat beds on the market with many designed to wrap around your cat in the curled up sleeping position.
Having its own sleeping place provides a sense of security and support. Most good cat beds can be washed easily.
Teeth can become a problem in old age so make sure they are checked regularly. Every six months should pick up any issues. Your vet can advise you on the food you feed your cat and measures you can take to keep their teeth healthy.
