Dealing with Cat Bites
Cat biting is a natural instinctive reaction from a cat when they are frightened, angry or just feeling a bit frisky and playful. The ferocity and intensity of the bite will obviously vary depending on the cat’s reason for biting. My cat, Tikka, will often give me a little pressing bite when he gets a bit playful. Often he fools me by purely sublimely while I stroke him but then with only a split second tail swishing warning he has me gripped! Front legs are wrap around my wrist, back paws kicking at my arm and his spiky teeth clamped down on my unprotected fingers…ooooouuch! To Tikka it’s a bit of fun to me its painful but somehow funny too. He’s never broke the skin but in anger or fear a cat is very capable of doing so.
In eighty per cent f cat bit cases you can expect for it to get infected. If you bleed it will do something to remove some of the infection causing saliva but if you don’t bathe the wound immediately you can expect a problem. Clean the wound with antiseptic and then repeat the process regularly until the wound shows signs of healing.
