Breaking Up Cat Fights
If you are a multi cat household you will now and then be subjected to a violent display of cat fighting! Usually there will be one cat the asserts himself as the alpha cat and will demand he is fed first and gets attention first. However there will be times when the other cat or cats will try to knock him from his alpha cat throne and then you have a battle on your hands!
You should never try to get in between two fighting cats. They will be completely focussed on each other and will well and truly be in the red zone. Their stress levels are at an all time high and they will not be aware of you. You’re very likely to get bitten or scratched if you do try to intervene. The best thing is to guide one of the cats into another room using a brush or broom.
Leave the cat well alone in a room for a while. Later go in and leave water, food and a litter tray. Don’t make eye contact with the cat. They are likely to need a good few hours to calm down. You’ll know when they are out of the red zone when they start cleaning themselves or eating
