Before Your Buy a Kitten
If you’ve decided you’re going to buy a kitten then there are a few things you need to consider first. If you are well up on cats you will know what to expect however if this is your first time at cat ownership you are about to enter a new mode of pet ownership. Cats are independent, self assertive creatures. They tell you when they need you and when they don’t you’ll be in no doubt also! Some cats love people and others tend to be quite aloof however most will come to view you as the big cat and lavish you with mountains of catty affection.
Before you commit check out that you don’t have any allergies to cats. Spend some considerable time with a cat at a friends or family member’s just to make sure. You don’t want to buy a kitten only to have to get it rehomed straight away.
Also consider how much time you have to commit to a cat. Although cats are much more independent than dogs and will not require so much attention they will quickly get into mischief if they get bored spending too much time alone.
Also think about any existing pets you have. Cats can get on quite well with dogs – especially the smaller breeds but consider the temperament of your dog first.
