Baking Cats

With the lovely Indian summer we’ve been experiencing over the past few weeks it’s not only us humans that have been appreciating some last minute sunshine before autumn draws in properly.  My cat Tikka has been lapping up the rays.  He’s chosen a couple of key spots outside and he rotates throughout the day.

His current favourite is his sun bed from about three in the afternoon.  There he sits resplendent in the rockery in the front garden in the autumn sunshine with want appears to be a wide contented smile on his face!  His other haunt is on the gravel drive where he languishes, outstretched and sensuous in the early evening glow.

Try to make sure your cat has one last chance to top up on the sunshine and get his quota of vitamin D before the dark, dreary days set in over autumn and winter.  The sun isn’t too strong that you need to worry too much about your cat overheating but make sure they still have access to plenty of water and that there are shady areas in the garden in case it gets a bit too hot under the collar.

And why not follow suit?  Get out there and soak up that sun!
