Anyone for a Wedgie?

A magnificent cat, the Norwegian Forest Cat was originally bred in northern Europe where it adapted and evolved to cope with very cold climates.  In the 1970’s the breed started to attract some attention whereas up until then it was pretty much a well kept Norwegian secret!  This cat species is thought to be very old and has possibly evolved from the long haired Manx and Maine Coon cat breeds with its long haired coat and their strong and powerful physique.

This awe-inspiring cat has acquired the nickname of ‘Wedgie’ in the States (I’m sure this majestic cat would not be impressed with that!) and are large in build and athletic.  Males can weigh in at a massive 10 kilos and females around 5 kilos on average.  They are consummate hunters and are skilled agile climbers despite their heavy gait.  Although in the main they are not usually considered to be a typical housecat they can make wonderful loving pets if raised with appropriate care and attention.  They can be particularly independent and have a hardy outdoor nature.  However their beautiful almond eyes and exquisite faces make them a simply gorgeous cat to be owned by.

They are great family minglers mixing calmly with other pets and children.
